The current thinking is that we should adopt a 'divide and conquer' approach whereby the overall task of building and operating this web site is divided into a number of manageable 'chunks'.
Each of these would then be tackled by EITHER an individual with the necessary skills and motivation, OR by a team of people who collectively have the skills and time.
A suggested list of areas which need to be dealt with is given below, but may not be complete. Suggestions for changes or additions are therefore very welcome and will be posted on this page so that we can all see the collective thinking.
Significant Areas are:-
- Overall site management in at least four areas
coordination of the teams and handling of e-mail traffic to the site;
design of a consistent 'look and feel' to the various site sections;
choice of technical standards and the oversight of their implementation;
policy setting and implementation - regarding what should be the site's Aims, what is to be included on the site, and what is best left out because it's well handled elsewhere.
- Overall responsibility for the choice and presentation of explicit Christian material on the site, so that it is helpful to both Christians and non-Christians, and is in line with mainstream Open Brethren theology. It probably should not attempt to duplicate good material which can be found elsewhere on the Internet.
- Overall information content management; including the scope of what will be included and how it will be kept up-to-date and accurate. Because the web site aims to be a source of information on a whole range of Christian Brethren related matters in NSW, this area of responsibility would probably need to be divided into sub-areas. For example:-
Information about the specific Assembly congregations in NSW;
Information about each of the shared Christian Brethren ministries (or para-assembly organisations as they are sometimes called) such as Emmaus Bible College or CYC or Lutanda, etc etc.
Sharing of News, Notices, Dates of Events, etc a sort of near real-time adjunct to the mail-outs and magazine content we have had for many years.
Provision of help and web site resources to people in any Christian Brethren Assembly or ministry who want to use the Internet to assist or advertise their ministry but who are not ready to launch their own web site just yet.
Please e-mail website administrator if you would like to offer help in a particular one of these areas and you will be put in touch with others who are also interested in that area.
